Artist's Comments

Here is the WIP for :icongeneraltokan:'s Portrait I'm doing for him.

I'm REALLY happy with how it's turning out--I'm glad I'm getting the hang of leaving 'white space', which makes it look a helluva lot cleaner.

More progress to follow. :)

Anna! This looks awesome i am so pleased with it already, this will have the honour of being framed and hung on my wall, still need to scan yours in and work on the colours, i'm so impressed, are you doing the full picture or is it just a close up of my face? Just wondered, you are so very skilled!

It looks great! How do you do the whole white spaces thing, though? I've been wanting to do that in photoshop, but haven't figured out how. Is there some "easy" way I can't think of...? ;p

:D aw, I'm glad--thank you for the future place of honour. :)
I'll be doing the whole picture, with a little change of my own on the T-Shirt. Hopefully that part will turn out alright, since the shirt is worrying me most--but hopefully it'll pull through alright, even with my alteration. ;)
 thank you! :giggle:

Thank you! :)
Well, I just lightly sketched the boundary of the white spaces on my paper, then when I watercolored I made sure to leave those parts for the most part untouched, so that it would be the most pristine of white. (because the white watercolor stuff doens't look as good, and it isn't 'white', but most of a cream.)
So with photoshop, well since i don't know what you'd be doing with it I don't exactly know, but I'd assumer for white spaces you could make a seperate layer of blocked out spaces with some really vibrant color for where you want white, and then when you're finished with the rest, merge that with your other layer and then just paintbucket the vibrant colors back to white. and then of course blend and such if you needed to. :)
